Privacy Policy

On May 25th 2018 the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into effect. In order to comply with this regulation, members of Ouse Valley Flyfishers must be aware of what personal data is stored by the club and how this data is managed and used. Furthermore, members must be given an opportunity to specify any restrictions on the storage or use of their data.

The club's secretary stores membership information in order to maintain contact with club members for purposes such as the distribution of newsletters and other information, for the booking of fishing trips and for sharing with the club's treasurer for the management of subscription payments. The club has a lawful basis for processing your data since it has a contract with you to deliver newsletters and other club-related information. We store your name, postal address, phone number or numbers (as supplied by you) and email address. When an individual leaves the club, their data is deleted. This information is stored securely and is not passed on to others except with your permission or as required by law. However, there are certain fisheries requiring lists of the names of people attending when a booking is made. In these cases, just a list of names is passed on. Membership lists are not published. If a member wins a club trophy, their name is normally engraved on the trophy and this record will be held in perpetuity.

You are in full control over the data held about you. If you have any special requests for restricting the use of your data, if you would like a copy of the data held about you, if you would like any of your data changed or if you have any queries about these privacy issues, please contact the club secretary via the contact form on this web site.

Names and contact information of members do not appear on the web site, but names and other personal information (such as the number of fish caught in a competition) are included in the club's newsletter, distributed to all members. This newsletter is not available publicly via the web site. However, photographs containing club members do appear on this web site. If you would prefer that photographs showing you do not appear, please contact the club secretary via the contact form on this web site.
